RCS strives to create a loving, inclusive environment for students with varying needs, and to inspire these students to know their own God-given strength, power, and potential, and confidently pursue their passions for the Glory of God.
Under the umbrella of our student support services, we provide:
Elementary Title 1 services for students who struggle with reading. We have a specialized teacher with a reading master's degree who works with small groups of students (3–6) each day of the week for 30 minutes from each grade on specific skills and strategies to complement what the classroom teacher is doing. Specific programs such as F.A.S.T., Read Naturally and others provide tools to teach phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary building.
Elementary Math support for students who struggle with math. A certified elementary teacher provides extra support and reinforcement by working with small groups of students (3-6) on math skills and real-world problems. This teacher reinforces the concepts and skills presented by the classroom teacher. These groups meet daily for 30–40 minutes depending on the need.
Volunteer tutors. We often have retired teachers or other capable adults who work one on one under the guidance of our title 1 teacher with individual students to give attention to specific academic needs.
Mid school academic support. A certified special education teacher supports mid-school students who struggle in math, reading or other academic areas by pushing into general education classrooms or pulling kids out in smaller groups for at least 1 period on a daily basis. Many of these students qualify for special education services. Extra help is given on getting homework completed as well as accommodating students with special needs.
High school academic support. A certified teacher supports high school students who struggle in math, reading or other academic areas by pushing into general education classrooms or pulling kids out in smaller groups for at least 1 period on a daily basis.
