I grew up in Hudsonville, Michigan. I came to Rehoboth Christian School for the first time as a pre-service teacher from Taylor University in January 2022, and then returned as a student teacher this past fall. I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education with concentrations in middle school education and middle school science from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. When I came to Rehoboth, I instantly fell in love with the area and the community, and I am eager to be a part of it again, more permanently this time! I really enjoy working with middle school students and often find myself learning from the insights they bring to class. I have a passion for teaching and providing my students with real-life, hands-on experiences. It is my goal to make learning fun and engaging, as well as to bring energy and joy into my classroom each and everyday. Working as a camp counselor for almost 4 years, I have learned the importance of building relationships with each and every one of my students. It is my goal to get to know and connect with every child that sits in my classroom, so that I can not only meet their educational needs but also make learning personal to them and their interests. Throughout my life, God has had a very funny way of showing me that the best things in life are often the things that I did not plan. My role here in Rehoboth is one example of this, as I will be teaching English. Part of my training at TU was for teaching middle school science, not English. However I know that I will have the unique opportunity to learn and grow with my students as I begin teaching this subject, and I am very excited for that process!
