I came to Rehoboth Christian School sight unseen from Grand Rapids, MI in 1998 with Jim and our four children. We packed up a moving truck with the absolute essentials thinking we’d serve at RCS for one or two years. Twenty-two years later, it has become our home. Calvin College and Western University, where I earned my Reading Master’s, seem like a long time ago, but teaching overseas in Norway was one of the inspirations for coming to New Mexico. Living in Norway for two years changed Jim and me, and after we had our children, we wanted to expose them to a different culture and have them experience the body of Christ in a different place. All of them graduated from Rehoboth Christian School and consider New Mexico home. I am deeply grateful for our school and the community of believers it represents. Our staff is a family of people who pray together and encourage one another. Teaching children to read is my joy! The “aha!” of figuring out how the letters make words and the click of comprehension that brings light to the eyes, is nothing short of amazing! Since 1998 Jim and I have known that we are in the center of God’s will for us. We are humbled and blessed to minister in His Kingdom here.
