Varsity Girls Volleyball

Rehoboth held its first Invitational Volleyball Tournament in its new Gymnasium August 27-29. The ten teams in the tournament were Crownpoint, Dulce, Ganado, Navajo Pine, Red Mesa, Rehoboth, Snowflake, Window Rock, Wingate, and Zuni. These ten teams showed up strong and sharp to create a very competitive tournament. The Lady Lynx Initiated their season using their height and power against their competitors. The dominant Snowflake High Girls Varsity finished first in the tournament followed by Window Rock. Rehoboth ended up in fourth just behind Wingate.

The Rehoboth Varsity Girls team showed great potential for their upcoming season.

The Lady Lynx open up play in the new Sport and Fitness Center

The 2008 RCS volleyball team is off and running to a great start. Recently they played their first game at the new Rehoboth Sport and Fitness Center. They were only able to practice in the new facility last year during their final week of the season. The girls led by Co-Coach tandem of Roy Jauquez and Zach Evans are off to a flying start - winning their first seven games. In addition to their impressive play on the court they have been practicing sportsmanship and pursuing victory with honor.

2007 Brief Season Recap

The girls returned for the 2007 season after making it to the state championships for the first time in 2006.  In spite of the pressure on them to succeed as they had the year before, the girls accepted the challenge and returned as an even more powerful team, losing only 2 district games.  Though they did not repeat as district champions, they traveled to McCurdy to play for a chance to go to state again.  Winning in three straight games, they clinched another spot at the state championships.  With a tough draw in the first round, the girls fought hard but lost to the team that eventually won the state title.  Despite losing, the Rehoboth girl’s volleyball team’s return to state and ability to surprise a few teams made a strong impression on the state’s top volleyball teams last season.
