Chris Van Slooten began his New Mexico teaching career in the fall of 2006. He was hired by Rehoboth to teach high school math. Upon his arrival at Rehoboth, he was recruited to immediately jump into coaching. His first year at Rehoboth he was an assistant cross country coach and track and field coach. Now with two young boys, he has decided to focus only on track and field, a sport he participated in while attending Hope College (Holland, MI). Prior to coming to Rehoboth he taught for a few years at Holland High School. His wife, Nikki, takes care of the boys, cooks fabulous food, and helps with the various college semester programs that call Rehoboth home. Chris enjoys his early morning runs (cross country skiing in the winter), playing early morning hoops, spending time with his children, and trying to defend Hope in the context of Calvin.
