Growing in my Faith and Goals
Family
I am the daughter of Kathy Ann Mackel, and Leo Duncan.  I did not  grow up with my father Leo for my mom and him divorced shortly after I was born.  However I grew up with my step-Father James Mackel. My mom and him then had a daughter named Michelle Mackel.  Michelle is not my only sibling, Leo my father has three kids, two girls and one boy. I have only met my brother from my dad once in my life.  My maternal Grandparents are Jimmy and Emma Silversmith. I have only met my paternal grandmother when I was about one years old, and my grandfather was no longer living when I was born.  I was raised by my mother with the help of her parents.  My grandmother played a big role in raising me, her punishments were always the worst because when you got her really mad she would spank you with her leather mocassins.  I have always been very close with my mothers side of the family, they are the people that I grew up with. I have three uncles, my moms brothers, and I have five aunts, my moms sisters. I have way to many cousins and second cousins, to many to count anyway.  I am very close with all of them, we all grew up together.  I have three cousins that are the same age as me, we were all very close growing up.  Tragedy struck my family in the fall of 2004.  My mom was diagnosed with a rare form of Stomach cancer, and died a little less then a year later.  This trial only brought my family closer together, we realized that family is that only thing your going to have all through your life, so spend as much time with them as you can.  My aunt Cecelia Anderson is the one who took my sister and I in after we lost our mom.  She has two girls of her own, and a son that she took in after her late sister Karen Passed away.  I know that my mom is proud of who i am today, and I am who I am because of her.  My life changed and through all the challenges I have endured my families the ones that were there comforting, and supporting me through everything.
