Sports

Sports have always been a part of my life. Since I was born I have participated in some type of activity, either it be a local youth league or participating in a local fun run. From sports I have learned the importance of team work, hard work and perseverance. Not only have I learned valuable lessons from sports I have made great relationships from participating in a numurous amount of sport activities. From being in high school sports for five years, has allowed me to bond with talented loving friends. We both share the same athletic interest; therefore it is very easy to build a lasting relationship.

I have participated in Cross Country since eighth grade; I remember being a nerve reck when trying out for the highschool team, luckily I qualified for the varsity team, and have been part of the same team for five years. Not only did I try out for Cross Country I tried out for the Rehoboth High School Basketball team. For five years I have had an amazing time being part of the vast group of basketball players. I played junior varsity for two years and eventually moved up to the Varsity team my junior year. My Junior year our team was very successful, we made it to the New Mexico state semi-finals. We lost against Navajo Prep, but through this lost we learned more than any of us suspected. The team bonded into a second family, and will always remember the experience we all once shared.

My last year being on the Rehoboth Girls Baskebtall team- my Senior year. I wish I could tell you my last basketball season ended magnificently as the year before but it didn’t. I still get emotional when I think about the 2008-2009 basketball season…its hard to look back and realize what we could have achieved. Throughout the season I had an amazing time bonding with my teammates and creating memories that will never be forgotten. Towards the end of the season there was no time for absurdity, we got down to business and we all believed we were champions. Our conceited minds soon caught up to us and we lost to Navajo Prep. My basketball season ended way to soon, I wish I could go back and change the past. I finally realized I can’t… it is now time to move forward and try to become a better person. Basketball season has given me guidance and I think this past basketball season has taught me more about life than any other basketball season and any other sport.

Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.
