Music
Music is such an important part of my life. It helps me reach the feelings that I am afriad to feel, it let's me be me, the part that no one sees. My first music endeavor was attepting tn learn the clarinet in sixth grade. I continued to play it until my junior year. Playing an instrument allows you to read music (what good would an instrument be if you couldn't) and learning to read music helped me in choir. I could sight read the music and get the melody and hormony in my head, it was never exactly right, but learning a new song became easier. Tour was always fun, we would all get on a nice, clean bus and go to California, then we would come back with an alarmingly nasty bus.
I started choir in middle school, I was in the seventh grade. My choir directors Mr. Ippel and Mrs. DeYoung instilled in me a passion and respect for singing. I love to sing, in the shower, car, you name it! Even if I was not the best vocalist, I found enjoyment in singing. This year i decided on trying out for the All-State Choir, which was an amazing expierence. I made it on the trebel choir, which was made up of all girls, or women rather. The talent of each one of those girls still astounds me, and for each one of them music was their passion, it was a little intimidating. Non-the- less it was exciting and scary at times. Our director was a fiesty women that could probably be a drill sergeant. All in all it was really fun.
I love every kind of music (except country) right down to classical music. I can definietly say that through my music classes in school I apprieciate music more than ever.
In my expeirence, it does not matter if you are the most talented musically, what really matters is if you enjoy it. There are moments when some competition is neccessary, but for the most part I do it because it is fun, it is a release from all the pressures and stresses of life, you can escape, even just for a little while.
Drama
This is the first and last year that I have been in the school play. It has been quite an interesting endeavor. They say people in drama are wierd...well, their right, but I have loved every minute of it. I have made new friendships with people I would not have spoken to if I had not joined the cast. It is not easy trying to make characters come to life, but everyone does it very well. The first time I went up in practice to start learning a dance, I could not stop laughing and smiling when I looked around, surprised, no one else was; they were in full character. They say drama people are wierd (whoever "they" are), but they have made me wierd too.
