Soccer
I picked up soccer my sophomore year, I had grown out of my cross country days and wanted to do something where I could bash people around. (No I did not have anger problems, I was just extra agressive) I did get to bash people around, but I found that soccer required skill, but I did not have any. (que laughter) I tried my best, and soccer became more enjoyable. I never acquired amazing skills, but I could manage. The best part of soccer was the practices, which were always filled with laughter and jokes.
Basketball
Basketball is my go to sport, my favorite. Throughout my high school career I've had many teammates, and many coaches. Since 8th grade I've seen the the ones I looked up to leave, and have been able to see the freshies come in. There are lots of good memories, but also lots of bad ones. As a young basketball player in middle school I imagined basketball at the varsity level to be smooth sailing, but there are so many different things that make up a basketball team: talent, team chemistry, coaching, willingness to sacrifice for the team. To me the last is the most important...the team. I believe that one player does not win games, granted it is really helpful to have; but the team becomes a support system. My last year of playing is most prevalent in my mind. Everything was as good as could be asked for; we all got along very well, we had a good coach, we had fun. Through this team I personally have learned that the less I thought about my own individual stats, the better the I did. The 'I' finally became a 'we'. I learned that we all worked as one cohesive unit. I rarely saw any other team dive wildly for the ball, or take such graceful charges. All our selflessness paid off, we finally, after an 11 year absence, made it to the final four of the state tournament. Although we did not win in the semi-finals, it was still an amazing ride. I was very blessed to recieve the Navajo Nation All-Area Second Team, and to be apart of the North/South All-Star Game this year.
Other sports I did were Cross Country 8th, 9th, and Track and Field 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th.
