 About Me

My name is Elizabeth Kempkes, but everyone calls me Beth. I am Canadian. I am the daughter of Sue and Will Kempkes, I have two great brothers, who are younger than me but look out for me like older brothers, Tim is 15 and Mike is 13. I also have younger sister Jessie who is 11, and looks up to me. My family means a lot to me, and I do not know what i would do with out them.
I was born in Ontario, but soon after my mom and dad moved us to the states, where we moved all over for eight years. When my dad was in seminary we got to see a lot of different places, because of his internships. Once my dad had completed his schooling we moved to Vernon, BC. where my dad Pastored at the Christian Reformed Church there for four years, until he got sick. We left that church for specific reasons and stayed in the area for two more years before we moved back to the states.
My family and I moved, December of 2004, the middle of my freshman year, because my dad had accepted a job to Pastor. It was a hard adjustment all around, and to be honest I did not want to move here. But I have to say New Mexico grows on you, or it is the people, one of the two. I love it here now and I am not really looking forward to leaving in the fall when I go to college.
When I first moved here it was a little difficult to make new friends, but now I have great friends that I would not trade for the world! We pick each other up when we are down, and are there for each other.
I enjoy being outside and messing around. I am a bookworm sometimes, and like to read. I teach myself piano when I have time and I like playing soccer, and being out on Rehoboth's turf field. I also love the south because it is always sunny and warm in the summer, and the skies are amazing. But being with friends is my most favourite thing to do.

What Rehoboth Has Done For Me

Being at Rehoboth has really pushed me to excel. Academically I have been pushed harder than any other school I have been at. Here they have taught me to raise the bar, and set my goals high. The teachers want us students to succeed, and we do. Rehoboth has a very special environment, at my previous school there was a very formal atmosphere between the teachers and students, but here you can have relationships with the teachers, and not be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
Here at Rehoboth I have also be challenged spiritually because not all of the students have the same beliefs. My Worldviews and Christian Life class this year has also challenged me to really think about what I believe, and why I believe it.
