Every Tuesday and Thursday after school, I work with second graders. I read to them or they read to me. We play games inside and out. We take field trips to the local police station, fire station, airport, and we go swimming.

I love these kids; they are like my kids.

It isn't always easy, it's difficult most of the time, but they bring so much energy into my life. Working with them teaches me how to be caring and patient. Most of all, they keep me healthy because they expect me to play the same games as them, run around with them, push them on the swings, and laugh with them-I like that the most.

Most importantly, these kids show me the unique ways God has created each of us. Each one has a different personality and it's fascinating to see how they interact with each other. Some love to read, some love math, some love singing, some love spelling, and some just love to ask me all the questions in the world like, "Why's the sky blue," "Why are there pictures on your bag," "Why do you wear glasses," "Why do you have pants on under your dress," and "Can you come to my birthday party?"

These kids come from different backgrounds but once they are all out on the playground, they immediately connect with each other and everything else does not matter. When I am spending time with them and loving on them, it makes me feel like I could make a positive impact on their lives. These kids inspire me to become a teacher in more ways than just one.

While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about.
