Statement of Faith

I consider myself to be a simple God loving Christian. As a Christian my view of the world is one of two sides. First my spiritual, or religious, view of the world and then my own personal human view of the world. Through my spiritual goggles, I believe in a God, or higher power.
My God is an all knowing God who helps me living the Christian life with providing me with guidelines; I believe I am not evil but “bad” in the state of a secular environment. If I were living in a secluded civilization where there is no such word as God or gods, the people, I think, would govern themselves with the laws of nature, staying alive. But then the statement of “Religion is opium fog the masses” This statement can shake the ground for any religion. As a Christian in an after life or heaven if you will. If humans can love and have reason, which distinguishes them from the animal kingdom, I believe that there is more to life than this life. Hinduism touches on the same topic. In the Hinduism the actions of one’s lifetime is a factor in the condition of the next lifetime. With this in mind, it gives a person of again, purpose. Instead of there being another lifetime the life after this lifetime will be an eternity in heaven. Without this reward our lives seem meaningless, futile, just a rat race.
When I live life, I want to look through my spiritual goggles and want to see how a certain decision or path of life will affect my relationship with God. For example, finances. What I spend my money on is a key point in Christianity. Of course tithing, but what I spend my money on is the other part. If I’m spending money on my wants rather than my needs or other’s needs, I’m not spending it wisely. The issues of money occurs throughout the Bible numerous times, (give Caesar what is his, the parable of the talents, the old woman giving her tithe, the rich man trying to get to Heaven). I am told to be kind and generous, to help the needy.
Regarding Media, The Bible does not give rules for media but instead reminds us to keep one thing in mind, God. I think one of the short comings of Christians today is keeping God #1. As a Christian I must constantly be aware of what I bring into my life because overall it will affect my world view in the long run. If is surround myself with “bad decision making” propaganda I will begin to drift away from God and will corrupt my values and ethics.
When dating it is easy to get caught up with “human love.” Overall who loves me the most? Another human or the God who knit me together in my mother’s womb? The answer is God. Of course I’d like to spend an entire Sunday with my girlfriend but I am not spending time with God.
Being brought up in a Christian household the values and world of Christianity are with me now whether I like it or not (and I like it). Being a Christian I am not obligated but called to live my life in a Godly fashion. With my Christian goggles I am aware of the pitfalls of this world.
