We’ll now be able to add 2009 into Rehoboth’s rich history as another momentous year.  This fall Rehoboth will be opening a long awaited and hoped for Pre-Kindergarten school! 

This new ministry will help prepare area children for school.  And, when coupled with our After School Program, it will also provide an excellent child care solution for working parents.  Both ministries are much needed blessings in our community.

Without the dedication and hard work of many volunteers this new outreach would not be possible.  For instance, when Mart Hollebeek from western Michigan, and Bert and Hendrica Schouten from western Canada were challenged to turn our old dorms into a pre-school, their immediate response was an emphatic, “Sure!”.

Not only did they clear out the ancient furniture and fixtures, but they also tore down walls and built new ones, too.  They installed Dutch doors and best of all, took the extra changes we sprung on them in stride. By the time they left we had the beginnings of a beautiful pre-school facility. 

            But, our new Pre-K digs were not done yet.  They also needed rewiring and new plugs throughout, not to mention safety lighting and smoke detectors.  With one call to Ray Francisco, a Rehoboth parent and Finance Committee member, we were well on our way.  A journeyman electrician, Ray came volunteered his time to take care of our electrical issues. 

We are so blessed!

            But, the blessings did not stop there.  We were also in dire need of a painter who could give our new facilities a fresh, clean, and cheery look.  With carpet and tile soon to be laid we needed the painting completed now!  However nobody with those skills was available to volunteer.  Thankfully after reading his “Rehoboth Newsletter” our friend and supporter Roland Buteyn felt called to make a trip out and phone our Volunteer Coordinator, Abbie Huizinga, wondering if we could use a painter.  It's amazing how the Lord provides!  He came out shortly there after and painted the pre-school in a week.

In June, a group of volunteers from Ivanrest Christian Reformed Church arrived to put the finishing touches on this amazing makeover.  They installed countertops, a sink, and drinking fountain; built sandboxes and benches; and sewed curtains.  

But, before it gets cold this fall we’ll also need yet another miracle.  This need is the money need to replace our ancient boiler system, so the children can be warm and cozy in our new facility.

So, please pray for the $30,000 critically needed to complete this project and give as you are able and led.  While you’re doing so, also thank God for the two journey pipe fitters from Denver who have already volunteered to come and install our new system as soon as we have purchased the new hardware.

A few short months ago our new Pre-K ministry was just a dream, but thanks to our faithful friends around the country, this fall it will become a reality.  We all have been left to ponder and appreciate the amazing friends Rehoboth has in its volunteers, donors, and prayer partners.  Together they have put in motion a new outreach that will last for decades and touch thousands of lives.

It is uncanny to think that even as other ministries are being forced to cut back on services that God is allowing us to move forward in providing critically needed services. Pray for our new ministry.
