RCS students are required to take two physical education classes during their high school years. These classes are typically taken during students’ freshmen and sophomore years.
Course Description –
In Physical Education, students will participate in both a number of team and individual sports and activities as well as individual fitness programs. The class activities for the sport portion of class will be directed to help the individual’s and team’s skills for that sport, as well as participating in competitive play. The class activities for the personal fitness portion of the class will focus on student development of a life long individual fitness plan. The manner in which you participate in sports and activities is a mirror as to how you live in other areas of your life. By definition Physical Education is the process of learning through the activities of the body.
Course Objectives –
- Students will develop and demonstrate skills in soccer, volleyball, softball, hockey, archery, badminton, and basketball.
- Students will learn and use different strategies in game situations.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of the games listed above (rules, skills, and strategies).
- Students will work towards developing a personal fitness plan that is worked in their current lifestyle and one that can possibly be used throughout their lifetime.
- Students will demonstrate responsibility by following the class rules and the policies of RehobothChristianSchool.
- Students will come to enjoy participating in sport and using it as a way to maintain and improve fitness throughout their lifetime.
