Kevin Zwiers came to Rehoboth in 2001 to teach band. The year he came Steve Weeda was coaching the Varsity Boy’s Basketball team. He did not have a JV coach at the time and asked if Kevin would be willing to coach. Never did it enter his mind until he was coaching the JV team that he might someday be coaching basketball. He coached the JV team for three years and then after Mr. Weeda stepped down, he was given the opportunity to coach the varsity team. He has been coaching the varsity team since the 2004-2005 season.
Kevin's philosophy is quite simple really. "I strive to teach the young men in our program how to be successful in life through the game of basketball. How to do that is a little more complicated. First, we try to emphasize the importance of relationships. We want our boys to have good healthy relationships with God, family, teammates, and friends. Secondly, we emphasize doing ones best in everything including every time we step on the floor. Wins and loses don’t matter if we give our best. Lastly, we strive to improve in life and every time we step on the floor. Whether that is in the classroom, home, practice or in a game we are always trying to get better."
