Executive Director Job Profile

The position of Executive Director of Rehoboth Christian School holds similarities to heads of schools elsewhere, but with a combination of roles and complexity of operation that remains unique in the Christian school world.

Rehoboth Christian School and its campus is a system with a long history in the Native American community. A complete listing of expected activities and responsibilities for the Executive Director is very extensive. But that defines the precise challenge for the Executive Director position—namely, focus. While it is true that the Executive Director is responsible for every aspect of the Rehoboth operation, the Executive Director must employ successful delegation, excellent hiring and accountability systems, and embedded financial management in order to lead the school in the key areas facing the institution.

Therefore, the following list is meant to be focused rather than exhaustive in its treatment of a description of the Executive Director role at Rehoboth Christian School.

A. Responsibilities & Focus
The Executive Director has one overarching responsibility, under which all goals, tasks, and agenda items must be subsumed, namely, to make more fully evident the mission of Rehoboth Christian School.

Currently, the most strategic focus to achieve that end is perceived to be:
·       implementing the expanded mission statement consistently across grades K - 12
·       creating a financially sustainable future in which to work and educate.

B. Personal Qualities
Effective leaders come in many different combinations of gifts and strengths. The needs and opportunities facing Rehoboth Christian School at this point in its history will require a person who possesses the following qualities:
·       Vision
·       Personal Discipline and Motivation
·       Trustworthy; able to engender mutual trust in the midst of a variety of opinions
·       Cultural Sensitivity
·       Creativity
·       Passion
·       Positive Outlook
·       Christian Spiritual Leadership

C. Demonstrated Expertise / Expected Performance Areas

The successful leader at Rehoboth will need to be highly skilled in many areas, but the following are most crucial:
·       Oral and Written Communication
·       Operational Management
·       Christian Educational Vision and Implementation
·       Cross Cultural Pedagogy
·       Community and Donor Relations
·       Organizational Governance Systems

We expect the successful candidate to be identified and verified in the fall of 2008, extended an offer of employment by January 2009, and to assume full responsibilities on July 1, 2009.

We invite applicants who fit this profile to submit a resume to Rehoboth Christian School and request an application. Direct all correspondence to:
